TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE

“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”  ~ Luke 10:2

Most Christians say they believe the trumpet could sound at any time and that Jesus could crack the sky at any moment — that He is soon to return.  As a result, we all agree that we have no time to waste to try reaching those who are still lost and have never heard the Gospel message, while ensuring Christ’s Bride is cleansed by the uncompromising Word of the living God.  According to John 9:4, we must do the work our Father has sent us to do while it is yet day because night is coming when we will not be able to work.

Yet, despite knowing time is short, our actions often belie our supposed “belief” that time is of the essence.  We often do not move with any sense of urgency.  Neither is this “belief” a purifying hope, for we still frequently commit the same sins — in our thoughts, words, and deeds (1 John 3:2-3). Today, so much diabolical deception has infiltrated the Church that, without the Word and the Holy Ghost, people cannot tell the truth from a lie.  Instead of us being light and salt in the midst of a dark and perverse world, the unsaved often cannot tell the difference between believers and themselves.  Too many of the unsaved in our communities, and globally, still have not heard the Gospel message — whether it’s exhibited through the way we live before them (as living epistles), or inside the walls of a church building.  And if the Church is scarcely saved, what will happen to the ungodly and sinners (1 Peter 4:18)?

Jesus’ command to His disciples before ascending to the Father remains the same for His disciples today:  “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” and He will confirm the Word with accompanying signs (Mark 16:15, 20).

God has strategically placed each of us within the Body of Christ.  Therefore, with laser focus, it’s time for us to be about our Father’s business so that, together, we can complete the mission of the Great Commission and go Home!  Amen and amen!

Prayer:  O Lord God, as we sense and see signs of Jesus’ imminent return everywhere, please shake us from our lethargy and apathy!  Father God, please forgive us and help us!  Thank You, Father, for prompting Your people of the urgent need to get Your work done before the trumpet sounds!  It is in Jesus’ precious name that I pray, amen.
